FO: Blue Booties

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , on March 10, 2012 by annatestadoro

My good friend Lucie, who I used to work with, ordered these booties a little while ago.

They are my tried and tested pattern, the only one I’ve written up so far, and I still love it like the day I came up with it.

As always, if you want to knit them either email me for the pattern, or check it out on Ravelry.

Green with Envy – Blogtoberfest: Day Six

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , on October 6, 2011 by annatestadoro

Here’s a little outfit that I blogged about in early February,  it was for my best friends little boy, who has featured on this blog already. It’s from a Burda Style pattern that I’ve sewed a couple of times, which is really easy to make. My friend, who’s staying with us for the next five days with her gorgeous little boy, Tom, was kind enough to send me some pictures of Tom wearing them.

And doesn’t he just look adorable in them? I’m really pleased with the colour and how the pockets make the forest green look even greener (can I say that?). Here’s another picture of the little man with his Grandma, Zita.

Did you also notice his little socks? They’re made by me as well.

It’s just a straightforward baby sock pattern and one that I’m going to be knitting again soon as I need to make some socks for Luke for the winter that is fast approaching and a couple for Christmas for some kids as well.

Another Bonnet and Bootie Combo

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , , , on February 1, 2011 by annatestadoro

I hope you’re not getting sick of my bonnet and bootie combo? Both of them are such an easy knit that I always come back to them when I want to make a present for friends. I also like the fact that I can always revert to my stash and use up some leftover wool, like with this pair. The wool I used was sock wool that I bought in Germany many, many years ago.

The sock yarn was actually a good idea as they turned out the perfect size for a newborn. I do also like the fact that the yarn had a mixture of pink and blue that came out as I was knitting the booties.

The pattern (my own, in case you didn’t know) is still one of my favourite patterns for booties, especially as I can often knit a pair of booties in an afternoon.

And then there’s the bonnet, another pattern from the guys over at Garnstudio. Again, it’s such a great pattern to knit as it takes me virtually no time at all to complete it these days as I’ve knitted so many versions of this bonnet. I remember the first time I made it, I got lost with the instructions, but now it’s like second nature.

What do you think of the tie strings? Due to the yarn they’ve worked out fantastically with a pink and a blue side, I love it!

Generally the entire bonnet turned out great I think, I simply love the fact that the sock yarn has a built in pattern, I must make sure that I get some more sock yarn from somewhere. I normally try and get some when I’m in Germany, but who knows I might even be able to find some here in the UK or even online.

The combo was for a really old school friend of mine who I got in touch again last August as I’m trying to organise a reunion for the class from my first school, I spent my first eight years of school with them and am trying to organise something for this coming year. Which might not be as easy as I thought, as I’ve got a very busy year coming up! Anyway, my friend really loved them and her little girl wore the hat on her first outing!

Stay-on-baby Booties for Baby Prasad

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , on January 31, 2011 by annatestadoro

I’ve been meaning to make these stay-on-baby booties for quite a while, I added them to my Ravelry queue probably two years ago. And this Saturday I finally decided to make them, and what do you know, I finished them the same day. They are just that simple to make.

The pattern is simply fantastic and really easy to knit. It can be found on Ravelry. I love that I can simply use my leftover yarn of any thickness and colour and create these. According to the designer they are also the best booties to stay on a little while, I’d like to think that mine do the same, but it’s always good to have two options.

They actually look relatively big on these pictures, but in fact they’re quite small, so I think they’ll only fit our little bundle of joy for a month or so…unless they stretch a bit.

Another Hat and Bootie Combo

Here’s another hat and bootie combo that I finished months and months ago. I think it was around June time and it was for one of my clients little boy (although I didn’t know it was going to be a boy at the time).

I think the knitting tension didn’t work completely, or I should have probably used even smaller needles than I did, as the knitting doesn’t look completely flawless. No matter though, the finished object still works well.

I also think the white sets off the yellow really quite nicely.

And the booties have worked out well as well I think, need I say more?

Another Pair of Booties

Here’s another pair of booties which my best friend gave to a friend of hers.

As always, I used the leftover yarn from some other projects, I like the red and white colour combination and I think the recipients did as well!

What Will 2011 Bring?

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on January 1, 2011 by annatestadoro

I’ve been thinking about how sporadic I’ve been posting on here in the last few months and there’s really no excuse for it. So, I think one of my resolutions this year will be to post more regularly on here. It’s not like there isn’t enough to talk about, as I’ve been very busy knitting. I’ve been busy making all kinds of baby clothes for my impending arrival and also still for other people. For example this hat and bootie combination for a colleague from a partner PR agency in Spain:

She also sent me a picture of her gorgeous little girl with the hat and booties on:

So, 2011 is going to be a busy year. Our baby, which we were initially told was a girl and now they’ve changed their mind and told us it’s a boy 🙂 is due 9th February. I then turn 30 on 17th February and our wedding is 4th June. So, as you can tell it’s going to be rather busy indeed. Nonetheless, I’d like to say that I’m going to be posting on here more than I have been!

I will definitely be posting in the run-up to our wedding as I’ll be making my wedding dress myself and surely that’s something to document!
