FO Collection

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , , , , , , on June 26, 2012 by annatestadoro

I wanted to show you a collection of FO’s that I finished  over the last 3 years. The first lot is a set of a blanket, bonnet and booties. I’ve not blogged about these separately yet, but will do so over the next few weeks. This set was made for a friend from school who wanted to give it to a friend of hers. She picked the colours as she didn’t know whether it would be a boy or girl, as a matter of fact I’m still not sure :-). I do really like the colour combo and I think it can work for either boy or girl.

The second set was made for a good friends baby boy, who is actually not a baby anymore, he turns 2 in September. It’s a cardigan, trousers, hat, socks and booties. I’ve blogged about some of these before, but can’t remember exactly when. I made them over two years ago. I remember using up some of the yarn in my stash, hence the different colours, but I do really like them.

And the last set is a jumpsuit and booties that I made for an ex-colleague. She was giving this to a friend. I made the same jumpsuit for Luke, and really liked the pattern.

FO: Bonnet and Bootie Combo

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , , , , on June 1, 2012 by annatestadoro

I’ve been looking through my folders again and have found another bonnet and bootie combo that I made back in August 2010 for a friend of mine. He had a little girl in or around September or October that year. They just had another baby, but I didn’t knit for them then. Anyway, I’m just going to upload the pictures here, I don’t think they need any words.

FO: Yellow Mini Hat (with a Gorgeous Baby Girl)

Sorry for the silence, we got our Internet connected today, but I’ve been busy with other things. The move went very well and we’re loving the new house. There’s so much space we don’t quite know what to do with it. I’ll be writing more about the house and the different rooms soon. However, I needed to get something up here first. There was a new arrival this last weekend, actually on the day we moved and before she arrived I had knitted her this hat:

It’s a pattern I go back to a lot, as it’s so nice and easy to knit and looks so nice.

And here’s the gorgeous little girl wearing it. Juliette Luella Bonjour, was born at 5:15pm GMT on 17th March 2012.

FO: A Pair of Silky Hats on the Way to Iceland

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , , , on February 9, 2012 by annatestadoro

A friend I went to school with ordered a couple of silky hats from me that he wanted me to send to Iceland, and I managed to knit them up very quickly earlier this week. I posted them off to Iceland today.

The pattern, as you’ve probably noticed is one of my favourite. It’s always knitted up very quickly and this time I used the DROPS Alpaca Silk yarn, which is a combination of baby alpaca and mulberry silk…it’s scrumptiously soft.

And the second one is another one of my favourite. Again, it was also knitted in DROPS Alpaca Silk.

I’m not sure if the new arrival is going to be a boy or girl, so I picked these very neutral…but I think lovely colours.

FO: Cotton Baby Socks

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , on January 10, 2012 by annatestadoro

I knitted this pair of baby socks for my friend’s little girl, Marianne, in Singapore. And because it’s always warm in Singapore (hot and humid in fact) I decided to go with cotton yarn. I had some nice Drops Safran left over, which conveniently was in the colours that Marianne’s mum was decorating the nursery with: white and yellow.

I went with my own gut instict regarding the pattern (it’s pretty straightforward after all) and just cast on 44 stitches initially. I think the yellow accents give the socks a really nice, chic edge.

And here’s the collection of items I knitted for Marianne, I’ve previously blogged about them here and here.

FO: Hat and Bootie Combo

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , , on January 5, 2012 by annatestadoro

Here’s a hat and bootie combo that I finished last year around October/November time, hang on, make that two years ago. It was for a journalist that I spoke to regularly about one of my clients in my day job (that’s PR, just in case I’ve never mentioned what I do). She was expecting a baby in or around December/January.

I decided to go with a very neutral brown as I didn’t know whether she was having a boy or girl, as a matter of fact, I still don’t know. I used some left over Drops Fabel that I had used for a jumper for Luke and it came out beautifully.

I think it’s rather a nice combo.

WIP Wednesday

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on December 7, 2011 by annatestadoro

I just realised that I forgot to post about my latest WIP last Wednesday. So this Wednesday I’m not going to forget. Do forgive the terrible pictures, I only took them a little while ago.

And I’ve got two WIPs to show you. The above is one bootie of a pair I’m knitting for a Christmas market I’ll be at on Saturday. If anyone is in West Hampstead on Saturday, pop by.

And the above is a hat/bonnet is also for the Christmas market. I’m hoping to have finished them soon…but if not I’ll also be taking orders and will be showing stuff I’ve knitted for Luke, as samples. I’ll let you know how I go!

FO: Baby Bonnet

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , on November 22, 2011 by annatestadoro

A tiny baby bonnet for a friend’s niece, which was knitted at some point during 2009 (I know, I know, another one of those). This is another pattern that I always keep coming back to, it’s easy to knit and I can normally manage it in one evening.

It was knitted out of Drops Safran as the baby was born in South Africa, so needed something that wasn’t too hot! I also am very fond of the colours and think they work really well. If you’re interested in knitting this bonnet, you can find the pattern here.

FO: Bonnet (My 150th Post)

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , on November 12, 2011 by annatestadoro

Can you believe it that this is my 150th post? I can’t believe it and I think the fact that I took part in Blogtoberfest and have somehow stuck to posting every day since has really made the difference here. And I love it. I’m getting lots of comments from you lovely readers out there and I’ve had 11,259 visits to date, I think that’s pretty cool!

So, for my 150th post I’ve got an FO to share with you that I finished last year. It was for good friends of ours in Singapore who we’re actually going to see on our way back from Australia in early December. They had a little baby girl about a month after we had Luke.

The pattern, you guessed it, is from Garnstudio. And it’s one I’ve knitted a couple of times since, including one for Luke, which I’ll show you another time. I decided to go with Drops Safran (a cotton yarn) as it’s incredibly hot and humid in Singapore (as you might know if you’ve ever been there).

While I picked the colours I was given a range of shades that my friend wanted. I think they work really well together and make a really pretty combination. I love the effect at the back and I think it finishes off this bonnet really nicely, it’s just so pretty!

Pink Bonnet: Looking for a Home

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on August 7, 2011 by annatestadoro

I made this little bonnet for a friend originally,  but it was during the time that Luke was tiny, so it took me too long to make it and my friend had already got another present. So, this little thing is now looking for a home:

It’s a 0-3 months size and it might be perfect for a friend of mine, who is luckily just looking for a autumn hat…but I’m worried that it might not fit by the time her little peanut needs to wear it. We’ll see what she says :-).
