Stay-on-baby Booties for Baby Prasad

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , on January 31, 2011 by annatestadoro

I’ve been meaning to make these stay-on-baby booties for quite a while, I added them to my Ravelry queue probably two years ago. And this Saturday I finally decided to make them, and what do you know, I finished them the same day. They are just that simple to make.

The pattern is simply fantastic and really easy to knit. It can be found on Ravelry. I love that I can simply use my leftover yarn of any thickness and colour and create these. According to the designer they are also the best booties to stay on a little while, I’d like to think that mine do the same, but it’s always good to have two options.

They actually look relatively big on these pictures, but in fact they’re quite small, so I think they’ll only fit our little bundle of joy for a month or so…unless they stretch a bit.

Do you need some booties?

Another three pairs of booties finished. I think I’m actually able to make them quicker  now. It also helps that I’ve got pattern sussed, so that really helps!

The beige coloured ones are made from an Alpaca mix and are incredibly soft and will probably be nice and warm as well. I do like the mix of colours as well, plus it makes them unisex!

I’m still working on writing the pattern up as I think it’ll go down well on here and I’d like to share it with everyone else! What do you think?

More booties

I finished another pair of booties.

This time I made sure that I used thin sock wool, as otherwise these booties always turn out a little bit too big! I think it works out better this way.

Rainbow Boots

The colours of these booties are great, I made them for a friend of mine and she chose the colours. You might remember similar booties from previous posts, but this time I actually properly followed the pattern. I seemed to always do the sole bit wrong, but I actually prefer my ‘wrong’ way better.

These booties also turned out to be a little bit larger then other ones, but I think that’s just down to the thickness of the wool, so I’m not worried.

These booties are not made for walking!

These kinds of boots have seen many baby feet. I like to knit them for pretty much anyone that is having a baby, as they are very easy to make. The choices of colour combinations are also quite inspiring, as no two every look the same.

I am usually able to knit one pair in one night in front of the TV. Strangely enough I find I knit quicker when I’m not actually looking at my knitting, apart from when I absolutely have to, what’s with that?

When I first started knitting these booties about 12 or 13 years ago, the pattern came from a German magazine that had many patterns of baby clothes. Unfortunately I can’t remember the name, as I have used it so much that the front cover of the magazine has disappeared.

I have over the years made some minor changes to the pattern and have personalised it a little bit. Overall it is an easy knit that makes a very nice present!
