Stripy Romper

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , , on June 23, 2009 by annatestadoro

You might remember I knitted this romper suit for my niece in blue and red stripes a little while ago. A friends friend liked it so much that she asked me to knit it for her soon-to-be born niece or nephew. I choose a Safran yarn, which I got from the Scandinavian Knitting guys. Now, because the little one will be born some time in July I thought cotton was better than wool.

Also, because she doesn’t know whether it’s going to be a girl or boy I decided to choose some lovely bright colours. I think they make it look really cute and I’m sure it’ll suit the little one well.

It’s a really nice pattern (from a really old German magazine) that is easy to knit. I did make some changes to it this time around and replaced the zip with buttons. I just knitted on some button holes, which I think actually works better then the zip.

I’m sure it’ll fit well and look good. I’m hoping to write up the pattern as well, but that’s after I’ve completed writing up the one for the booties.

Now remember, you can find me on Etsy and on Folksy.

Bonnie Bonnet

Another little bonnet I finished for a friend of mine in America. I used a Drops Design pattern from Garnstudio, but made a few changes to it. I think it has worked out quite well.

The yarn also came from Garnstudio, but I can’t remember exactly what it was called. I’ll make sure I’ll write it down next time.

I like how the entire bonnet seems to form a kind of star that top, I think it works well with the two different colours, the beige and the off white.

And the piece de resistance is my new label, which I ordered a little while ago. I think it finishes the bonnet off nicely.

Do you need some booties?

Another three pairs of booties finished. I think I’m actually able to make them quicker  now. It also helps that I’ve got pattern sussed, so that really helps!

The beige coloured ones are made from an Alpaca mix and are incredibly soft and will probably be nice and warm as well. I do like the mix of colours as well, plus it makes them unisex!

I’m still working on writing the pattern up as I think it’ll go down well on here and I’d like to share it with everyone else! What do you think?

Last weekend I finally gave my brother and his girlfriend the mountain of baby clothes I made. They really liked them, which is good!

Some more baby socks. This time made from real sock wool, which I think worked out really well!

Hat, But Not Knitted

Posted in Sewing with tags , , , , , on January 27, 2009 by annatestadoro

I’ve finally managed to do some sewing, so here’s one finished item.

It’s a little newborn hat,  made out of stretch cotton. I decided to stitch some stars on it,  just makes it that much more special.

Trousers for Baby

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , on January 22, 2009 by annatestadoro

I found the pattern for these trousers from Drops, I really like it. Although I do think they look a little funny, but I’m sure they will keep my niece/nephew warm and cosy.

I used three different kinds of wool and used them double, particularly as it would have made them too small otherwise. The colours changed at times as I swapped the three colours.

The knitting turned out to be quite tight, but I think it works out well.

Bonnet

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , on January 12, 2009 by annatestadoro

I tried another new pattern, this time a new version of a baby bonnet, I got it from Drops again.  I was trying to use some leftover wool again, I’m trying to do that a lot now, as I’ve just discovered a new site that has amazing wool: http://www.scandinavianknittingdesign.eu/index1.html

Apparently the colours are the same as for the Australian cricket team, which I think is quite funny. The cords are also knitted, it’s really nice to be learning so many new things, I feel much more proficient in knitting now then ever before.
