Bonnie Bonnet

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , , on May 25, 2009 by annatestadoro

Another little bonnet I finished for a friend of mine in America. I used a Drops Design pattern from Garnstudio, but made a few changes to it. I think it has worked out quite well.

The yarn also came from Garnstudio, but I can’t remember exactly what it was called. I’ll make sure I’ll write it down next time.
I like how the entire bonnet seems to form a kind of star that top, I think it works well with the two different colours, the beige and the off white.
And the piece de resistance is my new label, which I ordered a little while ago. I think it finishes the bonnet off nicely.

Blue, Blue, Blue is my Hat

Here’s another baby hat I made. This one is for a friend who I used to work with, he had a baby at Christmas.

I really like the colour combination and they work well.

Hat, But Not Knitted

I’ve finally managed to do some sewing, so here’s one finished item.

It’s a little newborn hat,  made out of stretch cotton. I decided to stitch some stars on it,  just makes it that much more special.

I tried another new pattern, this time a new version of a baby bonnet, I got it from Drops again.  I was trying to use some leftover wool again, I’m trying to do that a lot now, as I’ve just discovered a new site that has amazing wool:

Apparently the colours are the same as for the Australian cricket team, which I think is quite funny. The cords are also knitted, it’s really nice to be learning so many new things, I feel much more proficient in knitting now then ever before.

Colour My Hat

Here’s a little hat that’s nearly as colourful as the overalls.

Rainbow Hat

Here’s the matching rainbow hat for the little booties. Again, I really like the colours, as they’re so vibrant. I’ll let a few pictures speak for themselves.

Pom Pom’s Are Fun

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , on September 24, 2008 by annatestadoro

We’re invited to a first birthday party for the son of a friend of ours on Sunday, so I thought I’d make him a wooly hat. Especially helpful as it’s getting a little bit colder over here. I’ve taken loads of the rest bits of wool that I’ve got left over and randomly used them when knitting the hat.

I think the colours worked out really well. I’m also pleased to say that this time I didn’t actually use a pattern, but rather I made it up as I went along. It’s turned out ok, I think. But the true test will be on Sunday when the hat gets tried on.

As an added extra I made a pom pom, which was a little more challenging then I remembered, mainly because a few friends where giving me different ideas as to how to make pom poms…However, I found it easiest when I made them how I remembered, as you can see here.

But check out the finished product…what do you think? I’ll also try and get a picture of the hat on the baby’s head on Sunday!

The Smallest Hat in the World?

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , , on April 29, 2008 by annatestadoro

This is a multi-coloured hat I made for my friends baby. However, the hat was so small it only really fit the baby for about a week or so.

The colour combination works really well, I think, as it can be worn by either boy or girl. It’s a very straight forward pattern, taken from the same magazine as the booties (pity I don’t have the front cover anymore, it would have been good to let people know).

It’s a straight T-shaped piece of knitting that then gets sewn together. When finished it makes a very nice shaped little hat.

So on to my other projects. I’ve finished my friend’s shirt, I only have to iron it before sending it on to him and more importantly taking a picture to put up here. It’s worked out really nicely, a white collared shirt with a drawstring front, is anyone else thinking of pirates?! I’ll make sure I put it up soon!
