Keeping Baby Warm

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on June 4, 2009 by annatestadoro

My friend in the US received the baby blanket I made a few weeks ago just yesterday and I just realised that I hadn’t added it on here, so here it is. She’s just had her first little one, a little baby girl and this will keep her very warm.

I used some Karisma Superwash 100% wool from the folks at Scandinavian Knitting. I think it looks good and the colours work well. It’s always difficult picking colours for other people, but I seem to have managed quite well so far.

I love making these blankets as they turn out really nice and heavy and perfect for little ones, or so I’ve been told. 🙂

By the way, I’ve also recently opened a shop on Etsy, check it out. So far there are only a few items on there, but I first want to see what happens!

Warmest Cover for a Baby

It’s taken me a while to upload some more photos and projects, sorry about that. It’s mainly because the baby blanket took me a little longer. However, I’m very pleased with the result.

I think it’s worked out very well and I especially like the colour combination. I was a little worried about the colours, as I thought they would clash, but I’m really happy with the result.

Starry, Starry Night

I’ve finished the sleeping bag for my little niece or nephew. It was pretty straight forward. The pattern is a Burda pattern (9640), difficulty: easy. Although the pattern advised only two materials without wadding, I included cotton wadding as that made more sense.

The material choice was easy, simple cotton in a light cream for the outside and an orangy yellow for the lining. I’ve also stitched some stars onto the finished sleeping bag, to make it look less plain.

I’m really proud of the finished sleeping bag as it looks really snug and comfortable and the stars makes it extra pretty, whether the baby will be a boy or a girl.

Starry Starry Night

This was the one piece of sewing that took me the longest. Probably because It was all sewn by hand?! It’s a quilt that was made from simple cotton, with a star design, see picture:

The fact that it took so long to make made it that much more rewarding when it was finally finished. It’s found a very good home with a good friend of mine.

I’d like to think of this quilt as a bit of a work of art, especially as it looks rather good, don’t you think?

The back was a bright red, which works quite nicely.
