FO: Summery Girly Cardigan

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , , , on June 10, 2012 by annatestadoro

This cardigan is fast becoming a firm favourite, I’ve had quite a few orders for it, you can read about it here and here. But this is the first one I’ve knitted with cotton yarn, DROPS Safran to be precise.

I really do love this pattern, it’s so easy to knit as it’s garter stitch all the way with 14 stitches of moss stitch on each side for the front bands. I do always seem to forget the button holes and again when I was knitting this. So I just had to go back a few lines and then knit it up again with the button holes included this time.

And the buttons are curtesy of Textilegarden. I love them and I’ve just ordered a whole new lot, you’ll see them tomorrow in my seven little moments post.

And of course you can see that I added a nice crochet border, with a lovely contrasting deep red/purple. I’m going to call it plum?

So, we’ll see if and when I get another order for this same cardigan.

FO: Baby Socks

I’ve been going through my old pictures again and here’s a pair of socks that I knitted for my friends little girl early this year. You might remember seeing her on here wearing the tiny little yellow hat.

They’re my bog standard, straightforward sock knitting pattern and I love the colours. It’s a sock yarn that I bought in Germany, and I love the effect of the stripes.

FO: Another Purple Cardigan

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , on March 8, 2012 by annatestadoro

A couple of weeks ago I finished another purple cardigan. It’s just a little bit different than the last one I knitted as it has a moss stitch front panel.

Like the one I knitted before I felt like the garter stitch would never end, but in fact it actually knitted up quicker than before. Maybe it was because Luke was being quite cooperative and I was able to knit a fair amount when he was playing.

I do actually love this pattern, I love the fact that the sleeves are folded up as they can then grow with the child who is lucky enough to wear the cardigan.

And what do you think of the buttons? These are the ones from my button buying binge…they were just too adorable I thought.

And here it is all wrapped up.

FO: Charity Socks

Here’s a pair of newborn to 3 months socks that I knitted for charity while we were in Australia in November. They were knitted for a friend in Belfast who was organising a market to raise money for a little girl with cystic fibrosis.

I used some blue yarn that I had leftover in my stash and just my pattern to finish these.

They look tiny and that’s because they were actually tiny. I’m not sure whether they were actually sold, but I do hope that they found a good home. Here just a quick look at the little label I made for them.

WIP Wednesday

I’m working on an order a good friend of mine placed a couple of weeks ago. And I’m using the yarn that I showed you on Sunday. Get ready for it, it’s a strawberry hat :-).

What do you think so far? I’m loving the colours!

WIP Wednesday

I’ve been busy knitting away at a cardigan for a friends daughter, and she actually ‘ordered’ it from me at the Christmas market, where we shared the stall. It’s a cardigan that I knitted before, in fact I knitted the exact same purple and pink colour combination. This was when we thought we were having a girl, so Luke hasn’t worn it yet, but I think he might one day. Purple is not that bad on a boy, right?

It’s actually a really easy knit as it’s all knitted in garter stitch. It takes a while to knit the sleeves, once they’re cast on, as therer are 226 stitches. But I do manage to knit it while Luke is playing or napping, so that’s pretty good.

FO: Bonnet (My 150th Post)

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , on November 12, 2011 by annatestadoro

Can you believe it that this is my 150th post? I can’t believe it and I think the fact that I took part in Blogtoberfest and have somehow stuck to posting every day since has really made the difference here. And I love it. I’m getting lots of comments from you lovely readers out there and I’ve had 11,259 visits to date, I think that’s pretty cool!

So, for my 150th post I’ve got an FO to share with you that I finished last year. It was for good friends of ours in Singapore who we’re actually going to see on our way back from Australia in early December. They had a little baby girl about a month after we had Luke.

The pattern, you guessed it, is from Garnstudio. And it’s one I’ve knitted a couple of times since, including one for Luke, which I’ll show you another time. I decided to go with Drops Safran (a cotton yarn) as it’s incredibly hot and humid in Singapore (as you might know if you’ve ever been there).

While I picked the colours I was given a range of shades that my friend wanted. I think they work really well together and make a really pretty combination. I love the effect at the back and I think it finishes off this bonnet really nicely, it’s just so pretty!

FO: Flouncy Dress

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , , on November 1, 2011 by annatestadoro

I finished this little dress when I was in Germany with my Mum, I know I’ve given you some teasers. Here, finally, is the finished piece.

This little dress is for friends of ours (but it’s a surprise yet, so I can’t reveal who they are). It’s such a neat pattern, and I especially like the flouncy skirt, it’s a pattern from Garnstudio. The pattern actually calls for a different yarn, but I decide to go with Drops Safran, as I had some left over in my stash and I wanted the dress quite airy and for hot weather.

The pattern is really, really nice to knit, and it has such great details, the skirt and the top just come together so nicely. I love the double moss stitch of the top, it just makes it look so adorable!

I didn’t exactly pick the colours, but rather used three skeins of yarn that I had left over. I actually think the colours worked out really well! I love the little pink skirt and then the turquoise body part just works really well and the yellow ties it off very nicely!

WIP Wednesday – Blogtoberfest: Day Nineteen

Posted in Baby, Knitting with tags , , , on October 19, 2011 by annatestadoro

I’m very pleased that my scheduled post for yesterday went up without a hitch, I’ll definitely be using that feature again. We had a really good day travelling yesterday. The flight from London to Hanover went really well and our visit to my aunt was lovely. Luke, the champion, then proceeded to sleep the 2 hours 15 minutes to my Mum’s house…here’s hoping the return journey is equally easy! In the meantime, a quick picture of what I’m currently working on:

It’s a little dress made out of Drops Safran, for friends that have just had a baby girl. It’s a pattern from Garnstudio, and while the start was quite tedious, try working 420 stitches on circular needles. I’m now loving this pattern, the flounce at the bottom looks fantastic and there are more nice details to come at the top. So watch this space!

Pink Bonnet: Looking for a Home

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on August 7, 2011 by annatestadoro

I made this little bonnet for a friend originally,  but it was during the time that Luke was tiny, so it took me too long to make it and my friend had already got another present. So, this little thing is now looking for a home:

It’s a 0-3 months size and it might be perfect for a friend of mine, who is luckily just looking for a autumn hat…but I’m worried that it might not fit by the time her little peanut needs to wear it. We’ll see what she says :-).
