Summer Overalls for Baby Prasad

Posted in Knitting with tags , , , , on February 7, 2011 by annatestadoro

Our due date is fast approaching, it’s this coming Wednesday: 9th February. But there’s no sign of baby yet…I’ve been walking loads the last few days, and I’m sure that it’s helping, but who knows! In the meantime, I’m keeping myself busy with some knitting (what else is a girl to do?) I finished these Summer overalls over the weekend and am really pleased with them.

It’s from a pattern over at Garnstudio and was a real pleasure to knit. I’m also pleased with the fact that I was able to use some of my leftover Safran yarn, which I’d been using for bonnets, socks and blankets. That’s why there are a few different colours in these overalls, but I do actually think it worked out really well.

I made the overalls in a 3-6 months size so that baby Prasad can be wearing it during the Summer, now we just have to hope for a hot Summer. The pattern is so easy to knit because it’s really straight forward, apart from the moss stitch at the edges of the legs, arms and the collar it’s basically just straight forward stockinette stitch.

The opening in the legs works well and I had some nice buttons that I was able to use here.

I think overall the colours work very well together and I especially like the contrast with the pinks in the sleeves and legs, it just gives the overalls that extra ‘je ne se quas’!

Cherries

I know it’s been far too long since I last posted, and I’m ashamed that it has taken this long. It’s not because I haven’t been knitting, sewing or making anything, far from it. I’ve been very busy with all kinds of things. Cardigans, for myself, for babies; dresses, for myself, for my niece; socks, hats, you name it. But don’t you think that the fact that I have been making so many things should be even more reason for me to add them here? Well, some of the items I took pictures off have been lost, we were burgled three times at our last house (we have since moved) but this meant that all the pictures I had saved onto our computer, were lost. Nonetheless, there have been some new finished objects since which I will start adding here.

Let me start firstly with a little dress I made for my gorgeous niece Clara, who by the way will have a little sister or brother within the next month.

The pattern is one of the Burda baby range and it was really easy to finish. I made some slight adjustments to it while I was working on it, but I think it worked out really well. I think the fabric really suits the pattern and I actually like the fact that it’s girly, but not too much!

Little Clara was here with her parents in late June and we wanted to put her in the dress, but it was just slightly too cold to do so. It’ll be much better for her to wear it at home in Spain, where it’s much warmer at this time of year.

I didn’t use any interfacing in the little collar, even though it called for it. I don’t think it’s really necessary in a baby/toddler dress. After all it’s going to be much nicer on their little necks if it doesn’t have any interfacing, but maybe that’s just me?

Bright Skirt

This skirt was made for a friend of mine, who picked out the materials and thus chose the colours. I really like the combination of the pink and orange, as it seems to give the skirt the feeling of summer being just around the corner!

It was a very easy pattern, unfortunately I can’t even remember which one it was. Most likely one out of a Burda magazine, as those are the best patterns in my eyes. I had to use quite a lot of material, which, once gathered, gives the skirt the best effect.

Here is a picture, which was taken in the days before I had a digital camera, so it’s not the best picture. But at least it gives everyone an idea of what the skirt looked like in the end.
