I completed this blanket a few weeks ago for my bosses nephew. I actually really like the material, it’s Silke Alpaca from Scandinavian Knitting Design, and while it was quite thick , it was incredibly soft.
Compared to my other baby blankets that I make this was easier and quicker to knit, as it was knitted in four separate parts. Also, the fact that it was so soft made it a real pleasure to work with. The colours were well chosen, especially as it was for a little boy.
I’ve got quite a few more things to add on here, but keep forgetting to do so during the week. At the same time I also have a whole lot more things to finish, especially some more blankets. So, look out for them here.

Another Kind of Blanket

Posted in Knitting with tags baby blanket, blanket, cover, warm, wool on June 4, 2009 by annatestadoroMy friend in the US received the baby blanket I made a few weeks ago just yesterday and I just realised that I hadn’t added it on here, so here it is. She’s just had her first little one, a little baby girl and this will keep her very warm.
I used some Karisma Superwash 100% wool from the folks at Scandinavian Knitting. I think it looks good and the colours work well. It’s always difficult picking colours for other people, but I seem to have managed quite well so far.
I love making these blankets as they turn out really nice and heavy and perfect for little ones, or so I’ve been told. 🙂
By the way, I’ve also recently opened a shop on Etsy, check it out. So far there are only a few items on there, but I first want to see what happens!
Bonnie Bonnet
Posted in Knitting with tags baby, bonnet, boy, cap, girl, hat, wool on May 25, 2009 by annatestadoroAnother little bonnet I finished for a friend of mine in America. I used a Drops Design pattern from Garnstudio, but made a few changes to it. I think it has worked out quite well.
The yarn also came from Garnstudio, but I can’t remember exactly what it was called. I’ll make sure I’ll write it down next time.
I like how the entire bonnet seems to form a kind of star that top, I think it works well with the two different colours, the beige and the off white.
And the piece de resistance is my new label, which I ordered a little while ago. I think it finishes the bonnet off nicely.
Socks
Posted in Knitting with tags adult, socks, warm, wool on May 4, 2009 by annatestadoroFirstly, my niece arrived last Tuesday: Clara Mathilda. I can now start knitting and sewing little baby dresses, I’ve already ordered Burda sewing patterns and some wool to follow another Garn Studio pattern.
Secondly, I finished some socks a little while ago for a friend, as she always had cold feet.
I followed a really old pattern that my aunt taught me when I was about 12. It’s very easy to follow and also easy to change if that’s what is needed. I usually get my sock wool from Germany as there’s more choice with all kinds of different colours, and I’m slowly but surely running out of wool. So, I should get someone to get me some more!
Wool wool wool
Posted in Knitting with tags baby, baby clothes, Knitting, wool on September 25, 2008 by annatestadoroSo, remember my post about Angel Yarns? I bought some amazing wool from them last week, as my brother is going to have a baby. This is going to be my first niece/nephew…as you can probably imagine I’m incredibly excited. I’ve already got lots of plans to sew and knit… So, here’s a picture of the wool.
I can’t believe I’m getting so excited about wool 🙂
Angel Yarns
Posted in Uncategorized with tags Knitting, wool on May 2, 2008 by annatestadoroSorry, no picture today, but a link to an amazing yarn shop for Europe: Angel Yarns
The variety of wool, cotton and any other yarn that this shop can provide is dazzling. I have to admit I’ve only ordered from this shop once, but I’m still using the wool, which is a testament in itself! I recommend anyone in the UK to visit the shop, especially as prices are very competitive!
